01Verdict
Octopus Energy: our verdict
Reviewed 01/11/2026 from Octopus Energy's own pages and our readings. No seller pays for a review or for its place in one.
Octopus publishes more about its prices than most: a typical heat pump price after the grant with the dates behind it, solar costs dated to April 2026 and a fixed charger price with installation. None matches one of our standard specs yet (no heat pump size, solar priced by panel count), so no Octopus figure sits in our comparisons. Its cheapest solar figure is the dearest entry price of the three energy companies we read.

What Octopus Energy's pages say
In our words, with its own words quoted briefly, the page and the date we read it. The prices to compare are the readings above.
- Heat pump price
- A typical price, not a from price: the median of its quotes after a survey, with the £7,500 grant taken off, for quotes made from 01/06/2026 to 30/09/2026. No heat pump size is given. The page says: “Our typical heat pump price is £4,064”. Read on octopus.energy, 01/11/2026
- Solar price
- Panel-only installs start at £6,663 for 2 panels; its most popular system, 12 panels with a 10 kWh battery, is £11,115. Both on April 2026 prices. Its panels are 455 W each. The page says: “All costs are based on April 2026 prices”. Read on octopus.energy, 01/11/2026
- Solar warranty
- Panels and microinverters carry a 25-year product warranty. The page says: “come with a whopping 25 year product warranty”. Read on octopus.energy, 01/11/2026
- EV charger price
- Octopus Charge is £1,029 untethered or £1,129 with a 5 m tethered cable, standard installation included, with a 3-year warranty. The page does not state the charger power in kW, so it is not in our 7 kW comparison yet. The page says: “Both prices include standard installation”. Read on octopus.energy, 01/11/2026
04Where it loses
Where Octopus Energy loses
Against another seller's page read the same day, or a gap that keeps a price off our comparisons.
- Entry price for solar
- Octopus's lowest solar figure is £6,663 for 2 panels. Read the same day, E.ON Next starts at £4,995 for 6 panels and British Gas at £5,610 for 8. Panel counts and sizes differ, so these are entry prices, not a like-for-like comparison. Read on octopus.energy, 01/11/2026
- Solar prices dated April 2026
- Its solar costs are stated as April 2026 prices, so the page may not show what it charges in November. Read on octopus.energy, 01/11/2026
- Charger price against British Gas
- £1,029 untethered with installation, against British Gas's from £999 for a 7.4 kW Sync Energy charger with installation. Octopus's is a fixed price and British Gas's a from price, so read them as list prices, not a ranking. Read on octopus.energy, 01/11/2026
