01Verdict
British Gas: our verdict
Reviewed 01/11/2026 from British Gas's own pages and our readings. No seller pays for a review or for its place in one.
British Gas publishes plain prices for EV chargers and solar, and a five-year boiler warranty on parts and labour, against BOXT's one-year workmanship guarantee read the same day. Its boiler and heat pump prices sit behind a quote or a survey, and its solar is fitted by partners, so only the charger matches one of our specs so far.

04Where it loses
Where British Gas loses
Against another seller's page read the same day, or a gap that keeps a price off our comparisons.
- No published boiler or heat pump price
- Boilers are priced in an online quote and heat pumps after a survey, so British Gas has no price on our boiler or heat pump pages. Read on britishgas.co.uk, 01/11/2026
- Solar fitted by partners
- British Gas sells the solar system but its partners install it, so the firm on your roof is not British Gas. The page says: “Installation by our expert partners”. Read on britishgas.co.uk, 01/11/2026
- Lowest Trustpilot score of the energy companies
- 4.4 out of 5 on 01/11/2026, against 4.5 for E.ON Next and 4.8 for Octopus. Each covers the whole company, not only installs. Read on uk.trustpilot.com, 01/11/2026
